How do I get a WA State ID number?

You must have a WA State ID number to get a permit or take the written exam. It is free to obtain your number on the Department of Licensing (DOL) website. Simply click the 'Apply Now' button, then find the link that says 'Log in or join' under 'Pre-Apply Online.' Fill out your information to create a License eXpress account. Once you have entered all of the required information, you will then need to login to that account to find your 'WDL' number. The whole process takes about 10-15 minutes.
